ATL Fitness Club 's 3 Reasons Why Sticking to Your Resolution Can Be a Piece of Cake (Figuratively, That is)!

The start of a new year usually means the start of new habits (or the end of old ones). But sometimes (and many of us are guilty of this) setting a New Year's resolution (like losing weight or joining a gym) can seem like a bit of a far-fetched fantasy.

That's why ATL Fitness Club wants to help you stick to your goals in 2013... and every year after that!
Here are 3 good reasons why sticking to your resolution(s) can be a piece of cake (without all the calories)!

1) It only takes 30 days to establish a new habit. Whether your ultimate goal is to lose weight , put on some size , or just learn to eat cleaner and train meaner... your new routine can easily become a permanent lifestyle change over time. Experts say it takes just 30 days to establish a new habit. This means that if you just stick to your guns about going to the gym , eating more healthful foods , or stepping up your training regimen for just one month, you will be one step closer to Achieving The Look you desire. Think of each month as just another stepping stone toward your final destination: FITNESS. As each month passes, you will unknowingly be creating the habit of healthier living. 30 days of hitting the gym, combined with another 30 days of improving your diet, in conjunction with another 30 days of  stepping up your weight training ... equals a quarter of your year filled with small goals but big results!

2) A healthy lifestyle can be contagious. Our ATL Fitness Club team has had the wonderful privilege of writing workout routines, making supplement suggestions, and sharing nutritious recipes & meal ideas with others nationwide. What we've discovered over time is that the more we knowledge we share, the more interest we generate among fitness gurus who desire to Achieve The Look . What a gratifying feeling it is to be able to share your passion with others, right? So why not inspire those around you as well? When people see that you are diligent about your gym routine , and consistent about your eating habits, they will start to ask how they too can live that healthy lifestyle. Whether it's passing along a recipe that you love or showing someone at the gym one of your favorite weight exercises, you can be the one to motivate others around you. You know that saying, "birds of a feather flock together?" Well it's true in this case. By enlightening people to improve their health and fitness, you will also be building a flock of fitness freaks around you who will continually inspire each other each and every day!

3) Getting or staying in shape is much cheaper than the consequences associated with being sedentary. We just watched the documentary Hungry for Change on Netflix, and retained this startling statistic: 68% of Americans are now overweight or obese. Are you kidding?! That means almost 7 out of every 10 people has a weight problem. Carrying those excess pounds has far worse consequences than just not being able to squeeze into your favorite jeans or hating your reflection in the mirror... Being overweight or obese also sets the stage for people to develop a laundry list of medical conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or cardiovascular problems. Correct us if we're wrong, but we feel as though spending money on gym memberships, personal trainers, and fresh groceries is MUCH CHEAPER in the long run than office visits to the doctor, paying for prescription medications, and buying bigger clothes to hide your love handles. So why not make the wiser investment in 2013... by sticking to your workout plans and improving your diet? We say it's a "no-brainer!"

In a nutshell-- People make New Year's resolutions all time time, but not many people actually stick to them. But if you can make the commitment to rewarding yourself in 2013 with more exercise and wiser food decisions, you won't have just established new habits... you will have created an ideal lifestyle. So what are you waiting for? Begin your 30 days of starting a new habit that's good for you TODAY.

Here's to Achieving the Look in 2013!

ATL Fitness Club Featured Celebrity Trainer: Chris Garcia

Happy New Year, fitness gurus! In light of the most popular New Year's resolutions that we make year after year, we at ATL Fitness Club decided to profile a celebrity trainer who can both help you lose those excess pounds you gained for the holidays, as well as whip you into the best shape of your life.

We're talking about Chris Garcia, owner of Pure Living Fitness gym in Glendora, CA. Chris not only owns his own exercise facility on the west coast, he has also become well known for training celebrities! Additionally, Mr. Garcia recently published the first of his series of ebooks, The Max 21 Fat Burning Routine.

Based on Chris's extensive fitness background, it's safe to say that exercise and optimal health have always been an instrumental part of his life in some capacity.

Garcia’s participation in athletics as a young boy sparked his interest for health and fitness at a very young age. Chris began playing organized youth baseball at the age of five, and continued with the All-American sport into high school. At eleven years of age, Garcia began working out to prepare himself for the rigorous sport of youth Pop Warner Football. Chris’s passion for the pigskin game carried into college, where he played at the collegiate level from 1990-1993. During this time, Chris also began personal training (in 1991) with the general public, emphasizing his knowledge and customized programs which aided in fat loss. Working as a personal trainer helped Garcia realize his natural gift for working with people on improving health, eating right, and getting into better shape.

Also during this time period, Chris began training in boxing. His dedication to the ring led him to become a semi-finalist in the 1995 Golden Gloves Tournament of Southern California. Proceeding his boxing achievements, Garcia went on to coach youth boxing for three years (1997-2000).

In 1996, Chris Garcia broadened his horizons and interest in healthy living by becoming a Nutrition Consultant. Garcia helped others learn to make healthful choices by assisting clients through the famed APEX nutrition program. APEX Nutrition claims to be one of the leaders in online nutrition coaching, while offering nutrition plans for Weight Loss, Diabetes, Heart Health, Pregnancy & Lactation, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Endurance Sports Nutrition. In just a short amount of time, Garcia’s aptitude for nutritional supplements and knowledge of appropriate dietary programs led him to expand his clientele roster. Just one year later Garcia assumed the position of fitness director. His primary role became fitness consulting for City Hall employees for the city of Norwalk.

Garcia also possesses an extensive background in teaching good health to those who thirst for lifestyle improvement as well as weight loss. Chris has taught courses to the Norwalk general public in Nutrition 101, as well as “Developing Your Fitness Training Program” classes. Garcia’s desire for dispersing good health knowledge to people continued in 2000, which marked the birth of Pure Living Fitness personal training in Long Beach, California. Pure Living Fitness afforded Garcia the opportunity to work with college and professional athletes on a regular basis, as well as assist physical therapy outpatients with their recovery processes.

In 2004 Garcia began coaching youth baseball in addition to his roles as personal trainer, nutritional consultant, health instructor, and physical therapy aide. Two years later, Garcia started teaching Organized Outdoor Beach Body Fitness classes in multiple locations across southern California. This led Chris Garcia to eventually become a full-time personal lifestyle coach and nutritional consultant for a multitude of high profile clients. In 2007, Garcia relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to become the personal health advisor for Tyler Perry Studios.

Today, Pure Living Fitness is more than a personal training and nutritional program—it’s a way of living that’s becoming highly contagious among clients who reside anywhere from the west coast to the southeast. Pure Living Fitness continues to gain popularity in health facilities, workout franchise centers, and on the internet. Its primary focus is to compel workout fanatics, fitness gurus, and anyone who is simply interested in losing weight or improving their lifestyles to join the Pure Living Fitness subculture. Garcia hopes to make others aware of the benefits of healthy living, one person at a time.
Chris Garcia’s vision for Pure Living Fitness is to soon expand his focus to childhood obesity. Garcia would love to educate children about the importance of making healthful choices starting at a young age. He would also like to encourage children to get involved with and stay focused on physical activities, and staying in shape through adolescence and into adulthood.

In conjunction with Pure Living Fitness, Garcia currently has several other projects in the works. Garcia plans to have a children’s book series based on nutrition and health, as well as several self-help, diet, and recipe publications.
